Job Summary
RIC is seeking a design engineer for a mentored role in engineering design and analysis of water resources projects primarily throughout the KC Metro and surrounding region. In this role, the candidate will perform duties that relate to the design of storm water management systems, utilities, and other site infrastructure. This position entails working on a team to provide assistance in the development and drafting of design plans and reports for a wide variety of project types for our private and municipal clients. Areas of emphasis include site design, roadway design, utility design, grading and erosion control plans, storm sewer design, and water quality BMP design. As a design engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of civil engineering projects and be a part of a dynamic team. Primary Responsibilities
- Work effectively and professionally with internal team members and external client personnel
- Attend client meetings, planning commission meetings, city council meetings
- Ability to take a project from start to finish, acting as project engineer
- Use Civil 3D Pipe Networks to design horizontal and vertical alignments for stormwater, sanitary, and water mains on-site development projects
- Perform field assessment of existing infrastructure and construction observation
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and modeling, including stormwater detention and water quality BMP design
- Assist with site grading and design
- Assist with shop drawing review
- Prepare technical reports such as storm reports and SWPPPs
- Assist with permit applications
- Prioritize project deadlines
Requirements
- 1 year of AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred
- 0 – 4 years of related experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software
- Ability to develop GIS, CAD, and data management skills
- Basic knowledge of civil engineering concepts
- Basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems, spreadsheets, and databases
- Strong problem-solving and math skills
- Ability to perform under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- EI certification preferred
