The Unified School District No. 500 of Kansas City, Kansas retained RIC to assist with planning, surveying, engineering and landscape architecture for a 14+ acre bus parking and school activity complex for the District and F.L. Schlagel High School located between State and Parallel Parkway on 59th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. The project included design, staking and inspection of approximately 550 feet of sanitary sewer main extension to serve the project.
Specifically, RIC performed boundary and topographic surveys for the development, prepared legal descriptions and exhibits, led the rezoning and site planning effort, prepared public and private infrastructure plans including water main, sewer main, dry utilities, private paving plans, stormwater detention and water quality systems, grading , and landscaping plans. RIC was also retained for construction phase services including consultation during construction and shop drawing review, construction staking and construction inspection of the sanitary main.
Unique challenges on this project included preparing engineering calculations to support post construction water quality requirements on such a tight site and meeting an extremely tight deadline for delivery of engineering documents for construction.
