RIC was contracted to do the site/civil design for the new Interurban Lofts in Downtown Overland Park, Kansas back in 2015. We provided site grading, a new storm system, detention basin, roadway improvements, and landscape architecture to the .63 acre mixed-use redevelopment site where two single family residential homes had previously sat. This project required rezoning and full planning process. The new storm sewer system was designed under 79th Street and along the east side of Newton Street. Due to land availability, an underground enclosed detention system was required, consisting of 36″ RCP which sits below the basement subfloor in the parking garage. Roadway improvement were necessary to accommodate the new system and on street parking for the new mixed-use building.
