Project Engineer

Job Summary

RIC is seeking a Project Engineer for either our Land Development team or Water Resources team. The Project Engineer is a licensed professional that acts as an authorized agent of the company and is responsible for delivering technically sound products that meet and exceed the needs of clients. This role makes significant design decisions in cooperation with Project Managers on assigned projects, where applicable. May be responsible for assisting with marketing, business development, project management and client communication.

This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to a broad area of engineering assignments. In this role, you will perform duties that relate to the design of storm water management systems, utilities, production of related plans and reports, and other site infrastructure. You will be responsible for coordinating civil design along with other disciplines to meet project deadlines and budgets as a member of an integrated team. Areas of emphasis at RIC include site design, roadway design, land development, storm sewer design, water distribution design, wastewater collection system design and water quality BMP design. Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project design of civil and site related projects
  • Overseeing quality control processes for projects to ensure overall project performance and delivery
  • Managing projects and/or project components and supervising technical staff for design and plan production.
  • Leading and participating in marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Knowing and applying fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of the civil engineering field.
  • Sealing technical documents and plans prepared by or under your supervision.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Work effectively and professionally with internal team and project members as well as external client personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to mentor less experienced staff and continuously develop engineering design skills through education and development
  • Ability to perform basic engineering designs and contract plan development
  • Ability to perform occasional construction inspection on various projects
  • Development of production work plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Organized and punctual
  • Prioritization of project deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Professional engineering licensure in a Midwestern state preferred
