Job Summary

RIC is seeking a land survey crew member to work as a member of a survey crew performing preliminary, topographic, and as-built surveys as well as operating and maintaining survey equipment, taking field notes, and collecting data. An ideal candidate will be confident in their ability to make exact measurements and determine property boundaries as well as provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features for engineering purposes. Dependability and detail-orientation are essential.  We are seeking an individual who shares our passion for a high quality work product and enjoys a fast-paced work environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate and utilize all survey equipment – GPS and conventional in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic and engineering surveys
  • Work from notes, sketches, maps and other material to complete survey tasks with a minimum of supervision
  • Communicate with the crew chief before, during and after completion of field work to properly relay information on field conditions on-site
  • Prepare clear, informative and accurate field notes
  • Work cooperatively in a multiple crew setting
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance, repair and welfare of all equipment in the field including the work vehicle

 

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license must be possessed and maintained
  • Must understand algebra, trigonometry and geometry
  • Be familiar with survey equipment and tools
  • Must be proficient with data collectors, total stations
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather and to lift and carry heavy objects
  • Work effectively and professionally with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Organized and punctual
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple teams
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Land survey experience preferred
  • Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day and/or stand most of the day
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment

 

Education Requirements

  • A high school diploma with at least 2 years of related experience is required
  • GPS/RTK experience is preferred
